Midnight Memory Swim

I drove around all night long
Trying to find where things went wrong
Wound up at the end of the pier
With the sign that says no swimming here
And I did what any man would do

I closed my eyes
And jumped right in
For a midnight memory swim
Drowning in thoughts of you

When I came up for air
And you still weren't there
I had to lose myself again
In a midnight memory swim

Those summer nights lasted forever
You were my sunken treasure
And X marked the spot
In that old parking lot
Where you kissed me like there's no tomorrow

So I closed my eyes
And jumped on in
For a midnight memory swim
Drowning in thoughts of you

When I came up for air
And you still weren't there
I had to lose myself again
In a midnight memory swim

It's been years since I held you tight
But it always feels so right

Every time you love me again
In my midnight memory swim

I know there will come a day
When those memories fade away
But until that day comes

I'm gonna close my eyes
And dive right back in
To my midnight memory swim

Not comin' up for air
'Cause you're right beside me there
Holdin' me once again
In my midnight memory swim

When the morning finally breaks
And I've had all I can take
I get back in that Jeep
And watch the sun dawn over the sea

I should keep drivin' on
But before I could turn that key

I closed my eyes
And jumped right in
For a midnight memory swim
Drowning in thoughts of you

Gotta come up for air
I know you're not there
It's time to wake up again
From my midnight memory swim
